How our training works
Our Basic Driver Improvement course is very simple. It is designed to accommodate the expert and the novice Internet user. To register for the BDI Course, simply select the "Register" button above. Once registered, you will have access to your program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can log in and out as you like and pick up right where you left off when you return. The course is made up of 10 modules and a final exam.
Once you complete the Basic Driver Improvement Course, your certificate is automatically reported to the DHSMV and emailed to you one business day from the day you complete. Just take that certificate to your court, business, or other referring agency as proof of completion. It's that easy to complete this Florida 4 Hour Defensive Driving School through DriveSafe.
Important Notices
If you received a traffic citation and have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the Basic Driver Improvement course may not be taken for point reduction/removal as mandated by the State of Florida. Efective July 1, 2005 the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles will assess points to all individuals with a CDL whether or not the violation occurred in a private or commercial vehicle.
The final exam has no timer, but must be completed in one sitting.
If you possess a CDL, the Basic Driver Improvement course may be taken for personal fulfillment and edification only. NO POINTS WILL BE REMOVED for the completion of the Basic Driver Improvement course by any driver with a CDL. The Basic Driver Improvement course may still be taken for Insurance Discount Purposes. Please note: The Basic Driver Improvement course does not satisfy the 8 Hour Aggressive Driver Course or the Driving While Licenses Suspended or Revoked course.
Taking the Course
The Basic Driver Improvement course is divided into 10 modules. Once you complete all 10 modules, there will be a final exam. This exam is made up of 40 questions based on the information within the BDI course. You have 3 attempts to complete and pass the exam. DriveSafe's systems will grade the tests and notify you immediately whether you have passed or failed. A score of 70% or more is required to pass the exam. Upon successful completion of the Driver Improvement course, the certificate will be sent the following business day to the email provided during registration.
DriveSafe offers rush delivery of the certificate for an additional $10; simply contact our office at (866) 346-3283 to have your certificate sent the same day.
